"Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just
passes the time. Vision with action can change the world."

It is not enough to just have vision. One should be dedicated enough to make it happen.

I, Abhinav Gyan, contesting for the post of Vice President, Students Gymkhana, IIT Patna will strive for the betterment of the students here, will remain fair to everyone and my duties and will try to promote the friendliest environment possible inside the campus.

1. Improving the Campus Culture

• I propose that room allocation will take place in such a way that shared rooms will be given in the new upcoming hostel, while all those residing in the current hostel will get a single room.


• Passport and Pan Card mela – Getting a passport has become one of the basic requirements among students, but getting one is a hectic and tedious task, you have to go Patna several times and then Police Station for its verification.
  A Passport Pan Card mela will be organised every year, in which officials will be visiting our college to ease the process of getting these things.


• Media House – I propose to establish the media house in our college, which will publish regular updates of our college on several platforms, will also evaluate works of different committees and secretaries. This will generate interest of IITP Junta in different clubs leading to increase in workforce and improved transparency.


• I intend to shift the SBI ATM in the hostel area. This will make it easier for students to make any transaction whenever they require money.


• Market – Since we are lacking in the availability of a number of services, for which students have to generally wait for some occasion to visit Patna. I propose to increase the number of existing shops, a hardware shop, a tailor shop, a shoe shop with cobbler facility, a new stationary shop to name a few.


• Souvenir Shop – This is something that has been in demand for a few years, a souvenir shop for selling college merchandises at reasonable price is is required. It will not only have exclusive items but also it will have some general items that we can gift to our friends who still dream to study in IIT.


• Counselling Services – As college life here is full of pressure, everyone at some point of time needs someone with whom he/she can share any of his/her problems openly without any fear, and for that I propose for a full time counsellor in our college.


• Canteen Outlets – I propose to open more canteen outlets in college, which will not only end the monopoly of existing vendors but also the increase in competition will also improve the quality of food and services.


• A regulatory body will be setup comprising of secretaries and other student members to regulate the prices of the various outlets across the campus. The body will also take care of the hygine and the quality of the food/services being served.

2. Transportation

• A new system will be devised with the institute transportation committee to make a few autodrivers from Bihta official. They will have a lower trip fare and no extra charge at odd hours.


• Shared Cabs will be facilitated so that people going to Patna for fest work have ease in returning back to the campus. To do so, the institute's contract with Cabz4U will be extended to the students too where little luxury vehicles are used to reduce the fare.


• All the shared cab rides will be mentioned on the Cab Share network of IIT Patna so that willing people can share the rides.

3. Academics

• I intend to propose a new system of re-examination for those who have their CPI less than 6. We know that lowest CPI criteria for companies is 6. So this will help them in getting above the mark of 6 CPI such that they get an opportunity to sit for the placements


• Tutorials -Some of the first-year students find it hard to cope to settle with the new college environment and a totally different academic system, thus scoring low marks in their Mid-Sem due to an on-built pressure to perform better. I intend to propose a system where they will have a chance to train and take lessons from a second year student who has already done well in that course.


• Push and establishment of IIT Patna's internship portal that will take research interns in the domains of both science and engineering.


• I intend to work towards the strengthening of the Department Academic Program Committee(DAPC) for a smooth functioning and an overall improvement in academics of the Institute.

4. Alumni Relations

• SAAR has initiated many steps to ensure the IIT Patna fraternity have a chance to interact with our distinguished alums, the lastly being our Mentorship programme SALAAH, that allowed a one-on-one interaction between the student junta and alumni so that they were able to discuss the prospects for further studies, field of work/research alumni is experienced in. I intend to increase these interactions with alums making it easier for the junta to interact and gain insights from them.


• Many of our alumni are associated with big industries, companies and start-ups where they have made their marks in their fields rightfully so. I intend to integrate them with our college, thus making it easier for the IIT Patna fraternity to collaborate with their functionaries.
  This would also open up a new scope for internships and job offers, working together in fields of research and academia as a result of strengthening of our relationship with them.


• SAAR has made it easier for alumni to contribute towards their choice of interest be it sports/academics/infrastructure etc. To laud their efforts and to show our appreciation, I intend to return the favour by providing them with 80 G certificates for Income Tax under their contributions through SAAR itself.

5. Improving Students' Interaction

• PG->UG Tutor Program – I intend to start a program, where some PHD students will enroll who are interested in teaching some topics of their field, students who are interested in the same can attend these classes. This will not only help the students with their academics but will also give the PhD. tutors some teaching experience. At the end of the year we will also be giving “Best Tutor Awards” to tutors receiving positive feedback.


• Project Assistance - It is now of common knowledge that undergraduates are looking for opportunities to contribute and post-graduates a helping hand is always welcomed. And so there is nothing better than devising a system to formulate the same. I intend to initiate a platform where the research scholars can post their topics of reseach and the willing students can contribute there. This will not just add to the CV of the contributing student and add to the progress of research scholar but also add to the research growth on institute level which will surely be reflected in the NIRF rankings.

6. Introduction of a Centralized App or IIT Patna App

I intend to implement a Centralised App that shall have the following functions on the very same platform accessible to everyone in the IIT Patna fraternity.

• Mess - The mess part of the app shall offer students a choice to cancel their meals 12 hours prior so that they can avail their rebates accordingly and eat at food outlets as per their own convenience.


• Bus - This portion of app will allow students to track the movement of bus, thus making it easier for them to onboard the bus from their location.


• Cab Share Network- The current cab share system that operates on the intranet will be installed in the app.



Further addition to the app will be the inclusion of institute calendar, placement blog etc.

7. Gymkhana Governance

• A proper website and a Facebook page of Gymkhana will be maintained so that the students can receive regular updates about the activities of Gymkhana.


• Planning of all the year long activities will be planned before hand and allotment of the tentaive budgets will be done under my supervision.


• Proper execution of tasks will be ensured and it will be ensured that there is participation of all the office bearers. A proper system of feedback will be devised to look after this.

8. Sports

• A general promotion of sports will be ensured with the sports secretaries so that we get a lot freshers (mostly) interested in sports and then guide and nurture them so that later they can be sincere enough. This will not only improve the game of the individual/team but also increase the dedication of the individual to that particular sport and its related affairs.


• First Aid Installation - As the vaious sports grounds and courts are taking shape, this is the first and foremost requirement in the current scenario.


• Introduction of a Sports-Fiesta for the freshers so that they take part in the various sports. This will help seniors identify young talent and this will also promote the interaction of freshers with each others as well as with the seniors.


• I will ensure that all the fund that has come for Inter IIT is properly utilised so that we don't lack on any front and then excel at the event.

9. Technical

• Promotion of the events of the various Technical Clubs.


• Staring lecture series on various topics so that the perception can me made outside the institute.


• Tinkerer's Lab - The some challenges that we are facing in the campus will be taken up there and an attempt to solve them will be made. It will be ensured that all the requirements of TL is fulfiled.


• For Inter IIT Tech meet, the technical secretary will ensure the participation in all the events so that we have maximum chances to excel.

10. Cultural

• Reverbrance will be made more competetive so that we have more participation. This will give us a chance to select better participants just ahead of the practice sessions for the Cultural Meet.


• Push for the room allotment to the cultural clubs.


• Bi-monthly Open Mic - An open mic will be conducted in the canteen area by HoSCA. This will give the performers a stage to perform. Also it will give the rest of the junta an evening to remember.


• Propose to install a Gallery wall for weekly display of photographs and design works of the students.


• It will be ensured that the fund for Inter IIT Cultural Meet is allocated well before time. The training camp will be set-up just after the endsem so there there is a lot of time to practice.

11. Fests and E-Cell

• Proper fund allocation to the fests from the fest fees that the students pay.


• Procurement of the necessary permissions will be eased so that the focus of the team is not diverted to these matters.


• Interaction of E-Cell and SAAR will be promoted so that entrepreneurship blooms in our campus.


• A series of events will be conducted under the banner of E-Cell to promote the entrepreneurship across Bihar.

12. NIRF Ranking

This point has been highly neglected in our system. We are taking our steps to get better in the rankings. I propose the followig to improve the current scenario-

• Public Relations Team - This team will work under PIC PR and help him get the activities of the college gain media attention. This will change the perception of the people towards us and help us in securing points in the ranking.


• Procurement of the necessary data will be ensured by the gymkhana.


• Steps like Project Assistance will grow the culture of research in the campus and this will ultimately help in the research output of the college which will be in-turn be reflected in the NIRF ranking.
